The Clean Comedy Collective unofficially formed in 2022 when  four friends in Nashville, TN decided to team up and produce comedy shows together.  This was rooted in the idea that "We" is always more powerful then "I".  We started with two shows.  One at a coffee shop, and the other at a winery.  Then we picked up one at a comedy club.  And from there we kept expanding with new shows, mostly in middle TN, but occasionally in other spots as well.

 

As we did our shows we noticed among the audience that there was a genuine desire for non offensive comedy and the fun experience that comes with coming to a safe space, just to laugh.  We just were wanting to produce shows and network with more comics (to hopefully get booked on more shows), but there seemed to be a desire among comics and audiences to get involved in this thing that we were creating.

 

We  eventually started a clean comedy open mic at a juice bar and that really opened the door for us as to what the Clean Comedy Collective could be.  Many local comics who didn't normally work clean would come to our open mic because they wanted to try and develop the skill.  Many people who had always wanted to try comedy, but didn't feel comfortable in not clean settings, would come out and do our open mic.  Many would bring their families and kids.  We ran our mic with fun and positive vibes, and that set the standard for how CCC would continue to look.  One of the best compliments we ever received about our mic was that it was "safe for women".  Another compliment we heard was that our rooms were "kind".

 

Some time later as we continued to produce shows in Middle TN, a comedian and friend expressed interest in putting on clean shows in East TN under the banner of the Clean Comedy Collective.  In the same way things started in Middle TN, he started with one, and then another...and now there are several shows and an open mic in East TN that are "CCC related."  And that's how we made our first expansion.

 

Then in 2025 we decided it was time to up our game a bit.  It all started with an interest in expanding the website, and a friend who funded it to make it possible.  Then the thought of "What if we created a nationwide network of comedians, and increased our umbrella of shows past TN?"  In June of 2025, we launched our updated website and hit the "streets of Facebook" and let everyone know...we're looking for comedians and producers!

 

In less then a week, we received over 80 applications from comedians interested in being part of the network.  Additionally, we were flooded with comments from many of the comics about how much they love the concept of our Network, and that they are excited to see what this becomes.  The phrase, "I'm so glad this exists" was read in many emails.  It turns out creating a positive and accepting network for Clean Comedy was scratching an itch that was bigger then any of us were expecting.

 

These are the principles that will always define the Clean Comedy Collective

• We produce good clean comedy shows
• We value our talent and treat them with basic human decency
• Nobody, comics or audience members, will ever leave our shows feeling "less then" in any kind of way
• "We" is always more powerful then "I"
